Bluegrass in the classroom

School project Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival

These are Samer, Sheraidy, Alara and Sedat from group 8 of the Prinses Julianaschool in North Rotterdam. They receive lessons every Thursday morning from musician Gijsbert Diteweg.

This year, for the first time, traditional bluegrass instruments such as the banjo, guitar, mandolin and bass ukulele will be played. “It's amazing how quickly children can learn on these instruments,” says Gijsbert.

The children of the Princess Juliana School will show their bluegrass skills during the traditional opening of the festival!
