Star of the Bluegrass
A few years ago, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band made many corners of the mouths in North Rotterdam curl towards the sky and the soles of their feet filled the dance floor. Now the greatest front-porch blues band in the world is back to continue that party. And for that they bring a pile of new songs. The new album recorded the country blues trio by candlelight, with the most advanced equipment available. In 1950. Literally or figuratively, anyway 'Dance Songs For Hard Times' has become a totally timeless, super exciting record. Frontman and guitarist Peyton, who recently graced the cover of the American Vintage Guitar magazine, once again demonstrates on the new album, his special finger picking technique for which he is known. He plays catchy, Chuck Berry-esque licks with his index, ring and middle fingers, while using his thumb to produce a steady bass line. Accompanied only by his regular companions Breezy on washboard and Max Senteney on drums, Peyton creates a sound that he can fill the entire Noordplein with.
