Guitarist Michael Daves and mandolin player Jacob Jolliff are among the most prominent US bluegrass musicians. Maybe their names don't immediately ring a bell, but if you see who they've played music with in the past, you know enough. Daves has received much recognition for his collaborations with big names such as Chris Thile, Steve Martin and Tony Trischka, while Jolliff shared the stage and played on recordings with the likes of Sam Bush, Ronnie McCoury and Jerry Douglas. After years of playing in different bands and occasional formations, they have now found each other in a formidable duo form. With the typical high lonesome vocal harmony and fiery flatpicking. Their sound pays homage to the classic guitar-mandolin "brother duets" prevalent in country and bluegrass history, but with plenty of room for improvisation and exciting side paths.
